Dear Volunteer,
Identical twin brothers, Javier and Carlos Acosta, founded Twins4Toys in 1998. As
children, the twins attended yearly events at a local church where they were presented
with holiday gifts by police officers and firemen. At that time those police officers and
firemen may not have recognized the impact their example would have on the twins.
However, several years later those memories merged into a path that would lead both
Javier and Carlos to public service. Following this path, Javier and Carlos became the
first identical twins in the San Jose Police Department's 150-year history.
Our mission is to help children and families within the San Jose community by
providing them with toys, clothing, and school supplies. Along with bringing Christmas
joy, we attempt to provide positive role models and continue an effort to strengthen the
San Jose Police Department’s relationship with its community.
Throughout the year donations of new toys, clothing and school supplies are
collected for distribution during the holiday season. Coordinators of Twins4Toys gather
these items and store them in a central warehouse until they can be sorted by age and
gender. As Christmas approaches, male and female police officers and volunteers wearing
Santa hats distribute the toys as gifts to some of the most disadvantaged children of the
community. These gift giveaways are held at local churches, children’s shelters, homeless
shelters, battered women’s shelters, and sober-living homes. Gifts are also given to
victims of crime, and families in low-income residential areas. Twins4toys distributed
10,000 toys last year and they hope to do even better this year with your help.
With your efforts and support to this important cause you are making our
communities a better place and bringing joy to hundreds of children this holiday season.
Thank you so much for your donation. Thank you so much for your time at this year’s
gift-wrapping event.
Sincerely,
Javier Acosta
